How to choose in this department
Shorts are the piece we get asked about most, and almost every question comes down to three numbers: how long the inseam is, whether there is a pocket that holds a phone, and whether there is a liner inside.
The inseam is on the page for every pair that states one. Two and a half inches sits high on the thigh and is the running length. Longer cuts sit closer to the knee and suit walking, travel and the gym, where sitting down matters more than stride length.
The liner is the part people discover late. A double layer pair has an inner short that holds everything in place. A single layer pair does not, and over a summer that difference decides whether the shorts get worn for exercise or only for the garden.
What shorts will not do is replace a swimsuit bottom in salt water unless they say swim on them. The swim pairs are cut from quick drying fabric and filtered separately in this department.
